2025 Sustainability T-Shirt Design Contest

Contest Winner $500 

  • The first 50 design submissions are eligible to receive a bento box. 
  • Design submission deadline: March 23, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. 

 Award Details 

  • The contest winner will receive a $500 tuition scholarship. 
  • Up to five designs will be selected for public voting which will take place on social media @sustainabletamu and at in-person events during April. 

Contest Purpose 

The purpose of the contest is to solicit ideas from campus to design a new sustainability themed image for use as our signature T-shirt distributed during Campus Sustainability and Campus Earth month events. 

 Eligibility/Entry: 

  • Currently enrolled Texas A&M University undergraduate and graduate students. 
  • Faculty and staff, who are not currently enrolled, may participate but are not eligible for the tuition scholarship. 
  • Only one design submission per contestant. 

Design Criteria: 

  1. The design must be your own original, unpublished work. By entering the competition, you agree that your submission is your own work, and the Office of Sustainability & Campus Enrichment (OSCE) has exclusive rights to use your design. 
  2. The design should represent sustainability. Texas A&M University defines sustainability as the efficient, deliberate, and responsible preservation of environmental, social, and economic resources to protect our earth for future generations of Texas Aggies, the Texas A&M University community, and beyond.  
  3. Designs that incorporate holistic sustainability (environmental, economic, and social) are preferred but not required. 
  4. The design should resonate with Aggies. The shirt should include some combination, but doesn't have to include all, of the following Texas A&M elements in conjunction with the design: 
    1. Aggie Brand Colors 
    2. Aggie Brand Fonts 
    3. Aggie Brand Design Elements
    4. Aggie traditions or icons
    5. The use of orange is prohibited Horns down hand symbol emoji
  5. OSCE will place A&M and Office logos within your design after it is submitted. If you have a suggested placement, please indicate with text where the logo should be placed.  
  6. The T-shirt will be either Aggie maroon, gray, white, or black. 
  7. Indicate whether your design plan is for the front, back, or both sides of the shirt. 
  8. Your design should be limited to two colors for easy screen printing.  
  9. Your design entry should:
    1. Be in high resolution and submitted as a .jpg, .png, .pdf, .ai, .eps, or .psd file.  
    2. Include a .jpg or .png of your design on a T-shirt template to show the design placement is desirable.  
    3. Provide your desired color selections in HEX, CMYK, or Pantone. 
  10. Use your TAMU email to submit your design to sustainability@tamu.edu by March 23, 2025, 11:59 p.m. In the message, include: your name, UIN, and cell phone number 
    1. Optional: Provide a brief narrative about your design 

T-Shirt Judging Criteria: 

Contest judges will evaluate the design based on the following criteria: 
  • Submission meets design criteria stated above 
  • Sustainability relevance 
  • Creativity/originality  
  • Wearability – is it eye catching and visible from a distance 
  • Contest judges will select up to five designs for a public voting campaign 
  • Voting will occur via our social media @sustainabletamu and at in person OSCE events 

Important Dates: 

  • Submit your design (1 per contestant) March 1–23, 2025 
  • Last day to submit a design to sustainability@tamu.edu March 23, 2025 @ 11:59 p.m. 
  • Public voting in person and on social media April 1–16, 2025 
  • Announcement of contest winner April 23, 2025

Fine Print: 

By submitting an entry, the artist consents that it is their own original work and that they have all necessary rights and permissions to use any included elements. The T-shirt contest team reserves the right to make adjustments and alterations to the winning entry. The winning artist grants OSCE the exclusive right to the design, including any modifications thereof, to be used on promotional/marketing and materials. No submissions will be returned. If contest submissions don’t meet minimum standards, we reserve the right to not select a winner.
