Job Summary
Sustainability is a growing field that uses a holistic lens to investigate and problem solve the environmental, social, and economic problems our world faces. The Social Media Intern will assist the Office of Sustainability & Campus Enrichment in creating a culture of sustainability at Texas A&M University through OS social media platforms. The job involves working both independently and with OS team members to develop social media content for @sustainableTAMU. Current active platforms include Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategizes and creates content for all OS social media channels and online outreach.
- Plans, designs, collects, edits, and sends engaging and audience-focused content for OS, Aggie Green Fund, and Aggie Sustainability Alliance.
- Develops social media campaigns to increase engagement across platforms, networks, and audiences.
- Support OS interns in the development of social media content.
- Works collaboratively with the OS staff and student team to implement storytelling strategies through social media.
- Researches and applies new trends to enhance the user experience on social media.
- Strategizes content for and attends campus sustainability events, takes photos, and posts timely content on social media.
- Gain experience working in a diverse team-based office setting that coordinates with all divisions and departments of campus.
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M working toward a bachelor's degree.
Required special knowledge, abilities, and skills:
- Experience with designing and writing social media posts and promotional materials.
- Experience in and knowledge of various Social Media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.).
- Experience with social media strategy.
- Attention to detail and basic knowledge of general office use of computers and software applications.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Preferred skills:
- Work-Study Certificate.
- Previous experience managing professional and /or organizational social media platforms.
- Previous experience managing a personal account with a large audience (1000+ followers).
- Knowledge of social media trends and methods to increase reach and followers.
- Experience creating social media graphics.
- Knowledge of software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or Canva.
- Social media management tools such as Hootsuite.
- Experience creating email campaigns and e-newsletters.
- Video and/or photography experience.
